Brand New Animals (BNA)
The history of anime is interesting in presenting a universe with immense possibilities for exploration. Starting the anime with an enigmatic episode that intrigues and leaves a curiosity before the coexistence of beasts and humans. The theme of territorial placement and racism in the anime is vague and very little explored, has a shallow and bad criticism. The script continues to be well written until the middle of the anime, even though it is poorly explored in the sense of race differences, the anime universe is interesting, reminiscent of Zootopia. After half of the anime the script starts to go wrong, terrorism, conspiracy, religious fanaticism are things that the anime often tries to exploit, but it does it so badly, that the opportunities are lost.
The end of the anime is explosive, despite the bad direction the anime manages to pull out some good scenes, seeing the protagonist seeing that his efforts are in vain and evolving even more is impacting. The final confrontation of the anime has blood, and it is brutal, pity that it is fast and so saturated that I couldn't see it properly.
As for the characters, it is something else, they are good, they work well together, the cliché contrast of the happy and explosive protagonist with the surly partner and a frown despite being manicured works very well.
The animation is done well in most of the anime, although it is weak for the Trigger standard. The anime works very well the action scenes during the beginning of the series, well directed and well animated scenes, consistent music and accurate dubbing, however, like the story, the animation also loses quality from the middle of the series. Comparing to another anime by the same director and studio, Kill la Kill is still a protagonist among my favorites, the anime has more than 20 episodes and does not lose technical quality at any time, and that was 6 years ago. This new anime is generic from episode 8, bland scenes, irregular and inaccurate direction.
The anime design is beautiful. The characters have characteristics well represented by their clothing, thus showing that the team thought well of creating their costumes, and that the human and animal fusion was very good, it is always good to have the feeling of wanting to see more than one type of art, this anime does very well.
The sets are great, a very accurate representation for a colorful Deco style. Deformations in the anatomy are something that has to be seen carefully in Trigger animes, since the animation style needs this deformity, but the errors occur even outside necessary scenes, showing an unplanned problem.
Anime music is more or less, the mixture of electronic and neo pop music works very little. The electronic part can be interesting, it gives a technological air to the anime and adds, some compositions outside the electronic style also stand out a little, but not enough to listen outside the anime. The literate songs, on the other hand, are horrible, besides being badly placed, they can ruin a scene that works much better with just a generic piano in the background. The sound mix is good, Trigger does not disappoint in that.
The dubbing is great, all the characters are cool and charismatic. Despite the protagonist being embarrassed by others when singing, she is great in general, as well as the entire cast
